The choice between paths depends on your budget, your DIY appetite, your finishing standards, and your timeline.

The vinyl shed shell path uses one of five vinyl sheds (Apex Pro 10.5x8, Apex Pro 15x8, Woodbridge Plus 10.5x8, Woodbridge Plus 10.5x10.5, Woodbridge Plus 10.5x13, Woodside Plus 10.5x8) as the structural shell. You then add interior insulation (typically 2-inch rigid foam between studs, $400-$800 for materials), drywall ($300-$700 installed DIY or $800-$1,500 hired), electrical service ($1,500-$3,500 by licensed electrician), climate control ($1,500-$3,500 mini-split installed), and interior finishing (paint, flooring, trim - $500-$1,500). Total path cost: $4k-$11k on top of the kit price. Finished result is comparable to an insulated kit but at a lower total investment for some sizes.

The insulated kit path uses one of eleven insulated buildings or the BOSS tiny house, starting with insulation, finished panel walls, and electrical-ready features. You add only interior finishing (paint, flooring, trim), electrical service hookup, and climate control. Total path cost: $3k-$6k on top of the kit price. The kit costs more but the conversion is simpler and faster, and the finished result is typically more refined.

Which path is right depends on three factors: your time vs money trade-off (DIY insulation and drywall takes weekends, hiring it out costs $3-7k), your finishing standards (insulated kits have factory-finished interior panel surfaces that look better than DIY drywall in most cases), and your permit jurisdiction (some jurisdictions allow vinyl sheds without permits but require permits for insulated buildings regardless of size - the conversion path can let you avoid permits at the 10.5x8 size in some places).
